I just got my XJ and it has no recovery points. I plan to do some light wheeling and I want to make sure I have some solid recovery points just in case.
I've looked at front/rear bumpers but I'm looking at a curt front and rear 2" recIever for cost effectiveness. My question is, what are the cons to this setup? Will I lose ground clearance? Also, should I go hitch in the rear and front hooks in the front or will a front reciever be far superior?

a hitch would be plenty strong, and stronger than using just a tow hook.
you may lose a little ground clearance depending on the hitch setup. but most of the setups ive seen dont lose anymore ground clearance than a lot of the normal bumper setups ive seen around.
