frod 8.8
#2
Why the 8.8? It's not a bad rearend.. In doing a ford 9" rear and Dana 44 front.. Most of the cost will be in the axle.... I would think.. Set a budget and shop around. I found a 79 bronco for 500 got my axles off it and now I'm parting the rest out.. When it's all said and done I might have 300 in my swap.. Good luck with yours.

Depends.. if a shop does it it can be around $500-700. If you do it yourself then it will be more like $200-300. That's just for the swap.. Depending on what 8.8 you put in you will want to regear your front axle so add the cost and labor into that as well.

My 8.8 swap cost around $900 for everything and me installing it and welding on all the brackets. I went with all new disk brake parts and seals, and MORE offroad bracket kit.
Do some research and find one with 31 spline shafts, I think from what I have read, the 8.8 with the 31 spline shafts has a stronger housing and shafts than a 9" and a D44.
