found a ford 8.8 for $50 but with 3.08 gears. i was wondering if it was worth getting it and installing 4.10 gears into it or already finding a 8.8 with 4.10s?

I get em all day for a hundred bucks with 4.10's and Trac locs already installed. Some places are wise to use jeep guys tho. Watch out and call around, a few places around here trippled the price of em recently. if you want an actual locker and to go over 4.10 go ahead and get it. Are you sure its 31 spline? If you want 4.10 ratio, look for a tag that says 4L10.

 

or another way to tell if it's 31 spline is if the tubes neck down at an angle into the brakes
hell yeah I'd take an 8.8 for $50 out here in CA. junk yards charge ya $280 minimum to pull a 4x4 rear end...

 

The tag should say D2 actually

 

Ive bought about a hundred of em, all I buy say 4L10, also say 85 140 syn only.
