Honestly I don't really like flowmaster. There do sound good. But EVERYBODY and their grandmaw has one. I have the aero turbine 2525xl.

I run a stock exhaust with the muffler cut out and patched. It sounds almost the exact same as a 44 but my GF didn't have to stand on the corner to buy it. Most people think it will sound supper loud. It doesn't as long as you run it all the way back. It has been compared to many other XJ's with different exhaust and sounds better without being to loud. Just nice deep and rich. Making people jealous is fun. You should try it and if your about to rip it out anyway you really have nothing to lose by trying it.

Straight pipe here with just a CAT.
If your into taching the engine out I guess could be obnoxious but if you drive normal no one gives it a look.
The Catalytic convert muffles sound some by itself.

I ran 2.5 allthe way back with no cat and a 10 series flowmaster dumped before the rear axle. Substantial power increase but not quiet at all

had a 44 with 2.5 inch piping, headers, and hi flow cat an old xj..sounded great..i didnt think it was too loud for a daily driver. my new xj has a 40 with 2.25 inch piping and it has a nice rumble to it and its definitly not quite so either will really be fine. if i could go back i wouldve put another 44 on the new jeep..sound might change when i get a hiflow cat also. they all sound good on the 4.0 lol
