Flipping Jeeps
Been heavily considering getting into the jeep "flipping" business. And I don't mean rolling them over. There are TONS of jeeps around here for CHEAP (ex, I paid $200 for one I drove 30 miles home) and with some TLC that I can give them I could flip them for profit. Iv bought both my jeeps really cheap and the one i have now is currently worth at least double what I have in it. So what's everyone's educated opinions on this?

I can usually find em for $800-1000 all day. Most just need some work from a jeep freak and they can be restored and back on the road. With money for me lol

it's a risky game. you've got to sell cars that the people in your area use the most. for me, sacramento = hondas
me and my dad have considered getting into the car flipping game. lots of really cheap ones pop up at pick n pull and they sell them complete
but for it to be even remotely profitable it would almost have to be a full time job
if you have the resources (space, tools, time, and coin) give it a try if you think you've got it. broaden your horizons though not all the money is in jeeps

I know it might be risky, but maybe worth a shot. And time is an issue, I'ma full time student but weekends would be me. Open for discussion

I don't think you should dive into it. When you get the chance to snag a Jeep at $200, why not? Most people want to buy Jeeps at $1500 when they can, so doesn't really make sense to flip Jeeps that you buy for $800-$1000 when you have to repair things.
If anything, make it something you only do when you DO find those $200 Jeeps.

As much as I like the idea, practicality needs to come into play. What happens when you buy a Heep, fix it, then try to sell said Jeep? You either have a buyer, looking for a 10+ year old car, that doesn't get great mileage, or you're stuck with a Jeep that you dumped money into.
I'm not in anyway trying to shut down your idea, or talk bad about your skills on fixing Jeeps. It's just one of those things that if it was that easy, everyone would have already done it.

full time student eh? my pops has an autobody shop packed with tools and space for more cars and we still decided not to do it. the end game really isn't that profitable. if you REALLY still want to try this, I don't recommend using cherokees. the ones you're going to find are going to be in bad shape. they are projects, not flippers. you'd be better off picking up another part time job if you don't already have one.

i got a 2000 xj that i paid $100 for. over the course of 3 years ive put about $2500 in lift, tires and a motor. motor only has 85,xxx miles on it but odometer says 210,xxx. id be lucky to get $2500 out of it and it doesnt have dents or rust. its not really worth it. id try for smaller cars. hondas mostly. parts are cheap and easy to fix. i could get a $150 civic out of a jy and throw a $200 motor into it with only 100,xxx or less miles and fix various things and sell it for about $1500-$2000 for somthing i have about $500 into.

I like flipping cars and have had good luck both the times i have done it. Cherokees are popular so if i could get one cheap i would do it. Just be ready for them to seat around until a buyer comes along. One of the ones i flipped was a saturn and i made $500 but it took 3 months to sell.

Well then maybe go for it! I've been flipping cars with one of the guys at the autoshop I work at. He had been doing it for 20 years. Told me to start with simple junkers, like cars you can buy for $500 then flip it for $800 or so. Start small work your way up?

Generally speaking, "flipping cars" is for a quick flip. How long did it take you to sell your first jeep? I don't think it was quick.
Also you are not a dealer and can not do things a dealer would be able to do. How long does it take to get a title back from DMV? Around here in NY it's 3 months. That would be 3 months of money tied up into a single jeep.
Personally if I were you, I'd total buy any $200 or cheap jeep around you. Then you would have projects and parts jeeps at your disposal.
