Default Fire extinguisher mount

I'm placing this here because I need to "fab" up a place to mount. So basically, I have a small automotive fire extinguisher that I want to mount in my xj. My question is where I should put it. I'm fine with the back area, I just don't know where.

Sooo where did you put yours and how did you mount it?

Do you have a pic of this? I was trying to figure out where to put mine as well and it doesn't look like there is room in my 98 to put it next to the front seat. Did you screw it into the floor/rail or attach to the seat frame in some fashion?

Mines under the drivers seat. It's a very tight fit!!! Had to make a few minor mods to the mounting bracket that came with it.Fire extinguisher mount-image-1639663685.jpg

I mounted mine to the raised floor-pan area just in front of the rear bench seat...........I can reach around with my right arm and unclip it from the driver seat, and it does not interfere with me folding the rear seat down................However, accessing it with the rear seat folded down is slightly awkward. I can reach in there and get it with the driver side rear door open...

Just an FYI OP, this thread has been flagged for relocation. Fab is for things you fabricated, not inquiring about. Also with that said, mines is mounted in the cargo around on the hump

I have a small one beside the drivers seat and the 10# one bolted to the large cargo box in rear that holds recovery gear and misc.

No pics but I have a 2.5lb by the drivers seat and a 2.5 in the cargo area where the spare tire used to live.

This is an extremely poor location for a fire extinguisher if it's your only one. Every second counts and it looks like it'd take the driver about 900 to get that thing out. Fire works fast, you need to too. It's not doing you much good hidden in a pile of **** behind a bunch of doors at the furthest place from any human.

Yes and no. If you want to really be prepared then carry both. A CO2 extinguisher isn't goin to help you with any fires where the primary ignition source is heat. Think super hot wiring harnesses or a burst fuel line that's spraying on a hot exhaust manifold. CO2 extinguishers have limited applications indoors, but outside where there's wind don't work very well lol. I suppose you could kill the flames while a buddy gets ready to take a **** on the area... That's do it!
