I was just wondering if anyone else wondered who there previous owners were, like if you got your jeep at a dealership or at an auto auction like me. My question is does anyone know where/how I could find out who my previous owner was, besides like carfax?
Or does anyone wanna go in on one of those 10 carfax things to make it cheaper?

First, I inherited mine. And I knew my mother. But anyways, Call the DMV, and ask them. If you know it has remained in the state you live in. They have the title history, but I'm not sure if they will tell you. (privacy issue) Carfax will tell you, at a cost. The BIG Question is why. Plan on chewing him out, for what he did to it? Or returning the kilos you found in the rear quarter panels? Or how about to give him back the sandwich, he left in the glove box? I'm curious and running out of possible ideas here. Please explain.

Years ago it was nice to talk with the PO to find out if there was anything the dealer is "forgetting" to tell you about the vehicle. But in today's world with all this privacy crap going around it is now actually illegal for a dealer to disclose this info even if they know it themselves. You probably can't legally find this information out no matter how you try.

I drove right to the PO's house that sold me my XJ. He was a cool guy. Gave me a fair price, and everything he told me checked out. I was worried because it sounded too good to be true. I left his house forgetting the title. He sent it to me overnight. The following monday it was registered and passed inspections.
Was a cool dude imo.

I just want to know why he got rid of it, and to see if he could shine any light on some of the 'problems' I'm having. And I dont know maybe it'd be cool for him too see his cherokee that didnt run when he got rid of it and now $800 later it runs and has 4.5" on it and is all modded up. I dont know I think it'd be cool, plus I found a real ring I wanted to give back.
Well the DMV said they wouldnt tell me. And I found what looks like a wedding band in the back under the carpet under the rear seat. & I just wanted to find out a few things about it from him. & I dont know maybe he'd think it was cool if he saw it now.

If would be really messed up if you found him but he didn't recognize the ring. Especially if it was his wife's DD.

Here is a try.... At one time in CA, not sure if they still do it but you can if in you state do a smissions history search. In Ca it showed the previous owners name. Also I think those vehicle history reports will tell you if Im not mistaken.
