Hey guys I love the black fender flares on my 97 Xj but this Cali weather has done a real number on them and has turned them grey! does anyone have a good suggestion on a product to use to make them look new again? I've heard of dyes and waxes but I'm looking for something that is long lasting and easy to apply.

I tried Mothers back-to-black but it lasted one rainy night before it was back-to-crap... I'm definitely looking for something more efficient

WD-40 works great but you will have to apply it regularly.

aerospace 303 is a good product it has UV protestant unlike armor all

though good fusion spray paint and a coat of clear would work the best

Thanks these are good ideas, I've already rattle canned up the stock wheels but the fender flares are some sort of urethane so I don't know if paint would wanna stick to well when the temp changes. a bed liner coating sounds like a cool idea if done right. anyone done this before? And I'll look into some other products too

Forever Black Bumper and Trim. Myself and some other guys on here have used it. Works awesome. Super easy to apply, won't wash off the plastic, but will wash off the metal if you get some on it (you will) and pretty cheap. I've had it on for 4-5 months been through rain, snow, mud, multiple car washes and still looks like new.

Mask them off with masking tape and newspapers, clean with laquer-thinner on a paper towel or 20 and let dry. Then shoot with cheapo Walmart Gloss Black. Been holding up for about 3 years now and they still look great.

Try that. No need for fancy paint. The cheap stuff holds fine as long as you get all the wax off the old flares.

I don't know who makes the Walmart spray paint, but it seems to hold up extremely well. I even used it on my rims. 3 year old paint on the rims and they have been through South Dakota and Minnesota winters when this pic was taken.

Try using some ATF Transmission Fluid. When I heard this, I had to scratch my head but plastic is a petrolium. I used this on some red plastic when I was selling my old my old 3-wheeler which had some white spots & it worked great. Just let it soak in and re-apply as needed. I have not yet tried it on my new-used TJ Flares yet, but I will give them a coat when I get them installed. The guy that told me about this was doing this on plastic items on the deck of his boat & he does it every year.

Take a heat gun, like a blow drier but hotter and keep heating it slowly and it will turn black and last for a long time. Just take your time.

I'm definitely gonna check out that forever black stuff. I like the look of the stock bumpers on these years I just didn't wanna have to strip them off to do a good paint job or replace them with cheap aftermarkets

I used a butane torch and it worked perfectly. Instantly black as night and has stayed that way for months.
