Default Exploding Jeeps

I've caught wind of a possible recall apparently happening in the states right now that has to do with our Cherokees from what i'd heard it involves the gas tanks being very likely to explode in the instance of a rear end collision. I guess they are testing 3000 cherokees or something I dunno just curious if anyone else has heard about this and does anyone know what kind of truth it has to it and if it's also coming to Canada

"In its initial evaluation by the NHTSA, the Grand Cherokee did not have a significantly higher number of post-collision fires than other vehicles."

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is working to determine whether a recall is necessary.

If it does get recalled, the best you will get is a little dorky plastic shield behind the diff.
