Default Cherokee Tips, Tricks, and Knowledge Thread

Thought this could be a good idea so......

Post some of your accurate tips, tricks, and or knowledge you know about the Cherokee or Grand Cherokee, also about any other General off road stuff.

Now a lot of you may say I know to much to write it all down. Thats fine, tell us one thing at a time. Keep it as short as you can.

Doesnt matter if you think its stupid or not, could help some one else out.

(For some reason i can't think of any right now, )

Too easy. Air hammer the broken bolts out. fish new bolts with fender washers into the "new" holes. Git er dun.

Here's a random one that i figured out the other day (in my 99, anyway)
If you have the headlights on, shut them off, then shut the ignition off they shut off instantly.
If you have the headlights on, shut the ignition off first, then the lights, they stay on for like 30 seconds.

Some of the older XJ's have this to my 89 does it its a laredo, but if you look under the drivers side on the kick panel there will be a little plastic see through brown box with gears in it that's the timer so if you have it congrats. Edit. Not kick panel back of knee bolster.

If you go wheeling alone (you shouldnt!) but if you do...
Test your Jeeps abilities gradually.
You are NOT invincible! ...Even though you might feel that way.

Know the diffference.

OH S***! ...Means you are still having LOTS of fun!

F***! ...Means all fun has come too a sudden and abrupt end, usually with a moment of panic following.

Knowledge: 2001 is the only year with 3 cats.. two pre cats and a big one

2000-2001 have rased badges... there not sickers anymore

if your driver side speker does not work there might be a splt or rubed thought in the ruber pice form the door to the cab

tips: if you want to do the " 99+ intake swap " use a 2001 ONLY! intake, this year had the bigest in vol runer size for the most flow but the runers where shorter from the tb to the port.. they say it the best intake that they made

theres more i have to think of them

PB Blaster is god! I sprayed my jeep down with it for several weeks before the lift kit. I didn't break any bolts, nor did I have any extra trouble getting any out. I even was about to get the rear shock bolts out without breaking a single one.

Do NOT overtighten the temperature sender on the back of the head. It'll break off. Flush with the head. Then you're screwed.

I agree with the Seafoam, used it once, it's been giving me 2 to 3 extra mpg since - and that was like 3 months ago. 2 to 3 isnt much but it paid for itself after the first month.

Another tip... don't drive fast at night, because your headlights only go out so far...

Inspect your mounts! Motor mount and tranny mounts wearing out and not being changed in a timely manner leads to other problems.
