Everyone roll with locking lugs?
I dont have locking lug nuts on my stock 15" wheels and tires.
I'm looking to get some new Cragars and Grabbers, think it would be a good idea to grab a locking lug nut?

If I lived someplace like Boston I might, but not around here.
I've never worried about it much, but I don't have nice uber high dollar wheels and tires
either.
I personally hate the things, seems like the key gets lost by the time I want to remove
them and I end up getting them off the hard way.

if someone is out stealing wheels, i'm sure they know the 12pt socket trick to get any lock nut off just as easy as a regular nut.
so i wouldn't bother. it will only let you down at the most inconvenient time.

Wheel locks make it a little bit more challenging for them. And who's to say they have the right type of wrench? I have a set of Gorilla locks on mine & have never been "let down" in 8 years.

No locking lugs on my jeep. Why would they steal my wheels when it would be so much easier to steal my Jeep, they would just need to hop in and turn the key.

I need to invest in them for sure but not for the same reason. The stock style lugs have those **** house "caps" on them and I have run into many issues where I need multiple sockets to take my wheels off because to the effin things. those 12 points etc would offer a much stouter contact area for removal.

On the old geo.. on the spare it used to have an actual locking lug nut. As in the car key had to be inserted into the lug nut and turned. Not sure if you could do that on the wheels though.

For the $20 why not? If for nothing else other than peace of mind. I'm not saying they are necessary, but if you are gonna get some nice rims and spend hundreds on them and tires, what's another $20? Are they always gonna work? No, but if someone sees them, they'll probably just move on as it isn't usually worth the extra hassle.

I use them I came out once when i lived in tucson and it was part right in my carport and if i had not had the locks they would have been gone all lugs were off but the lock on all 4 wheels. I almost drove off without looking down at them but something caught my eye and no crap someone tried and failed. so i went to the whole lock system each one a lock. It was a set of welds on my old toyota with 38 swampers. They can be a pain on the trail tho.

Not a fan of the wheel locks, most used cars i buy have them but not the wrench, so i beat a bigger socket on there and they come right off with my ratchet. Any determined thief will take what they want, If your worried about it at your house, buy a dog and a shotgun. If your worried about it while your out and about, the only thing you can do is not drive it, keep it under lock and key, and let the paranoia monsters eat you alive.

I have in the past needed to remove wheel locks from cars where the owners have lost the key and it literally takes 10 seconds longer to remove the lug then with a normal lug nut. Not worth it. If you get them for free then sure but I wouldnt pay a cent for a set. Around my area nobody is going to steal my wheels and tires, they are all looking for 24's to fit on Escalades and Tahoes.
