Default Engine issues

I have just brought a jeep sport 2006 and found it needed a new oil pump etc. which I have had done but its still leaking oil. The garage says it could be a problem with the crankshaft as after about an hour ticking over the oil has been dumped out, please can anyone help?

I'm posting from the UK the log book says Cherokee jeep sport 2006 2429cc petrol. It doesn't have leather seats.

As I have said its had a new jeep part oil pump and seals and it still leaks oil. Even getting the pump wasn't easy it came from France due to jeep not having one in stock.

Could the problem now be the crankshaft?

Hope someone can help me?

Maybe not the crankshaft itself but maybe front and/or rear main seals for it.

The garage where the car is have used two sets, the first were not genuine Jeep seals so they thought that might have been the problem which it seems wasn't, as the second set also allows the oil through somewhere behind the pulley? It's not a drip but a "river" of oil.

You have a 2006 Wrangler TJ w/2.4L engine and 6spd trans? If so I found some info that hopefully will shed some light on your situation:

Oh my...

You're going to want to find a Jeep Patriot/Liberty type forum. For some reason they call them the Cherokee overseas, but they aren't the same vehicle as our American Cherokee.

Ok. But this site doesn't show the 2006 being offered with the 2429cc(2.5L) engine. Although the 2005 Liberty was offered with the 2.4L(2429cc) engine. What transmission you have?

I'm sorry that it seems I have the wrong forum. So what model is it and where should I sign up with? Its a 6 speed manual. By what members here have read is my problem now the crankshaft? Jeep isn't that popular make over here. Getting parts and the cost of them being one reason.

No worries Graham. Here's one that's more local to you.

http://jeep-club.co.uk/

And here's another that has a subforum just for your model.

Good luck!

Check in with the links JS provided. Your engine(2.4L)and trans(6spd w/OD)combo was offered in the 2005 Liberty and the 2006 Wrangler so it's possible that the link I gave you earlier could apply to your Cherokee Sport.
