EMT roof rack questions
Ive seen some. They look really nice. And i have alot of the stuff just laying around. But i was wondering. Some use the stock rack cross members to secure the basket rack thing to the jeep. How well does this hold up?
Any better suggestions for mounting? Also. Plan on putting lights in the front and maybe the rear. If i use the stock rails and what not to secure it down I would just run the wires from the lights to the rear and through the hatch? Does this cause any leaking at all?
I read through alot of threads about EMT roof racks. And well I thought id ask.

ok. JCR makes gutter mounts which is the best way to go BUT, if you make ur cross bars on the roofrack the same distance apart as your stock roof rack bars, you can use exhaust clamps to clamp it. They hold pretty good. Just to be safe, wrap a tie down strap around it too, but they work decent and u can take it on and off easierby just sliding the stock bars on or off.

u can certainly do that! I mean theyre plenty strong for a spare, a 5 gallon can of gas, high lift, and a few other accessories. we were pushing it with a spare, gas, highlift. and a 12' canoe with fishing gear.... but id say 2 bars can handle the rack and 150lbs to be safe but probably more, and 3 bars prolly a little more..

Don't know how to weld, going to start piecing together the two main parts of the frame and have someone else weld them together. Anyone use these elbows instead of welding/ bending the corners. I'm planning 3/4 inch EMT
