Need some help with my fan set up right now. So I switched to dual electric factory fans like a year ago and I love it. Works like a charm. But one or both of my fans I think is going out cause they shake like crazy and never did before. So I think I'm gonna change the set up. I was looking at ff dynamics and dirt bound off road set ups. They seem really nice but have read mixed things about them both being good and bad. I also thought about just getting two 12 inch flex a lite fans and mounting them up. I just need some advice on what would be the best option. I'm not going back to mechanic fan I wanna stick with electric. Thanks.

 

I built my own setup from parts and like it but I would use the DBO setup if I had to do it over. Lot of money though.

 

Yeah I think I'm gonna make my own but I'll buy there fan shroud to start with

 

I built my 3 10inch fan setup using a dirtbound fan shroud and 3 ebay electric fans and a summit racing duel fan controller i spent less then 150$ to build and it's been on my xj for almost 2 years now.

 

I haven't had any problems with this set up

 

FWIW, I haven't had any problems with the factory setup.

But it's a pretty cool option, especially when you can just toggle them on or off when you want to.

I run factory setup as well just a/c fan ran to a switch. No issues here..

I wouldn't mind doing something like that, but reading up on it, it seems to be hit and miss some people get the CEL.

 

I havent heard that. CEL for what though? Cylinder mis?

 

i have both my fans on a switch. no CEL and works great

 

Some of the OBDII models will trip the CEL if they detect the ECM fan is running when not commanded. The way to fix it is to put a diode on the wire leading back to the ECM so that it doesn't see the ground from the manual switch.

 

So after doing some looking around I found a 10 inch fan that would work perfectly as a triple set up. But I also found a really nice 16 inch fan for not much more. Could I fit two 16s in there and use those? It'll be pushing 4500cfm which is more than enough plus cheaper in the end too.

 

The radiator profile height isn't very tall, only like 10". You can use a larger size (the stock mech fan is about 14") but a shroud becomes more important otherwise the extra air flow is wasted
