Default Are either of these good deals?

I'm just browsing right now for a Cherokee to buy and came across these.

I'm going to call about the '97 this week.

I sent an email on the '98 but haven't heard back yet.

I'm a noob when it comes to this sort of stuff which is why I'm asking.

Not too bad, maybe offer $2k or $2200 for the 98 since it has the electrical issue. But make sure it runs top notch, with no noises in the drive train, and no rust underneath

Considering it's New England, and especially Central MA, where the solution to a snow flurry is 2 tons of salt, rust is a given. But I agree that it is still something to look out for.

I need this as a daily driver to high school and back so I'll be sure to listen for noises. My mom's boyfriend drive a ZJ I think so I'll probably ask him to come along since no one else in the family has a Jeep. Like I said, I'm a noob at this. Owning a Grand Am probably hasn't helped me much.

Is there some sort of disease the XJ owners get? Because I've been planning out what I want to do, when I get mine, all this week.

I had a 00 grand am before my XJ, its a world of a difference, but a good difference, especially in the snow! And you will get this desire to lift, then add big tires, then a roof rack, then bumpers.. It is like a disease, that never seems to get any better.
And living around Cleveland, we see a pretty good amount of salt so I know its tough to find rust free Jeeps, but as long as it doesn't look to bad underneath and you can't poke through the floors or rockers thats a good start
And if you get one, you can just POR15 or even black rustoleum the underside to keep it from rusting away

Hey man, I think the '98 is sold already. I'm pretty sure I sent that guy an email as well a while ago and never heard back. That posting is almost a month old, and 2 doors usually don't hang around too long.

Strange, my desire to mod the future XJ, probably that 97, is almost the opposite. Brush guard, then roof rack, lift, big tires. Probably some light mods mixed in too.

Two doors are quick buyers. Good to know.
