Hey guys I was just curious to see if this welder is worth getting. It'll be my first one, so i'll be learning on it. But I want to know if it will be able to handle 1/4" steel well enough for projects like a rear tire carrier and so forth. Or if there are any other weld machines out there worth a look. Thanks!

I wouldn't weld 1/4" on a 110 machine unless it was a Lincoln, Miller, or Hobart.

Eastwoods machines are good, but they're hit or miss and prone to just dying out of nowhere. On the plus side their customer service is awesome and they'll just replace them for you.

The HF machine I wouldn't bother with. They do ok if you replace the wire with name brand wire, but it's still a waste of $200 imo. Save for a little longer and buy a Lincoln, Miller, or Hobart. Get a 220 machine if you can or one that will run on both 110 and 220.
