Default Dyno Results, 4.6 Super-Stroker

I dropped off them BAMF'okee at the not-so-local performance shop in my area. The Golen stroker will soon have a Sprintex SC and Snow Performance Methanol Injection Kit along with a shiny new Mopar Purple camshaft installed.

Dyno results for before and after will be soon to follow. Stay tuned.

I'll also finally post pictures of what it looks like as well.

You shall not be disappointed Atmos. I have basically planned this SC install around running the MOST amount of stock cylinder compression (8.05) around running 6-9 lbs of boost.

I'm aiming for maximum cylinder compression efficiency, from which all of the base tuning will be based....... off of the standard Mileage XS tune from the Superchips flashpaq.

I'm not trying to advocate you buy a unit from SuperChips... but you should know as well as I do if you disconnect the battery for more than 20 minutes at all then you lose all of your base tuning that your after-market-SC-tuning was based off of. It will relearn all fuel and timing curves based off of current settings changing your intended tuning goal to something totally different.

With the SC Flashpaq I have a base tune to run off of for my SC tune no matter what happens in the future, so I don't have to worry about disconnecting the battery while I spend 8 hours working on changing the door-panels and their existing connections completely undoing my preexisting fuel-curve tunes installed on the AEM unit I have.

Love,
Wayne P.~

Look forward to seeing the numbers from the stock "Golen Stroker" to you completed engine. You should show nice Tq and HP #'s both a nice setup.

Also original cost of the Golen and finished engine, just to see $ per HP cost that is what I used for all my engines for the last 20 yrs. But I had them all built on the computer first before the build ever started. That's what's nice about modern software gives you all the info before you throw down the bucks.

When you increase the HP the rest of the drivetrain has to be upgraded also, my wife is glad I'm out of racing...But now she questions the costs of Jeep thing.

I propose we replace the 'joke' abbreviation of Jk with Xj. All in favor?

I'm very happy to see you have a Golen engine. You're supporting my uncle's business. Can't wait to see how the numbers turn out

As of today they're still pending installing the new camshaft bearings for the camshaft. Once it became an engine removal procedure things slowed down drastically because only two guys there do actual engine work and one of them is the operations manager who is frequently busy in all other projects.

He thinks that by the end of the week they'll have it assembled and back in. By the end of next week everything else should be complete (SC install, meth install, wiring + tuning).

It sounds hopeful that the results might be in by this weekend. The long block with the SC should be put in on Friday.

Have you done any transmission upgrades Marty? I had some fore/aft thrust bearing wear-out upon further inspection that could be from my transmission. It doesn't shift smoothly into reverse at all. I also need to upgrade my battery cabling as well.

On the AW4 Auto's, I had a transmission shop do a full power flush, new fluid and filter change and had them install the Transgo shift kit.

On the XJ with the Sprintex SC, they did the 'street/truck' shifting and 1st gear hold in 1-2 position. It is slightly firmer and quicker shifting and is perfect for the street and trail.

On 'RaceJeep' we just did the full power flush, new fluid and filter and also the Transgo shift kit but with 'Race' shifting and no 1st gear hold (we have a manual shifting mod done). Under part throttle and cruise it shift just a little firmer and quicker than stock (like the street/truck shifting) but on acceleration/WOT it shifts fast and hard. It will make a big difference in acceleration and while autocrossing.

Any HP/TQ predictions? Any boost predictions?

I'm adding a link to thrust bearing failures for future reference in case someone else has this problem.

I had poor electrical grounds & hard transmission shifts in lower gears. It literally kicked. Both may have been a direct problem in tandem with the worn out camshaft bearings from the cam-synchronizer failure sending metallic particles into the oil. The inside of the timing cover had worn out surface marks from the crank pushing forward.

FYI, if you ever go to replace just the cam and you have unusual wearing on the bearings... get the engine pulled and replace ALL bearings.
