So im looking into grabbing a XJ as a DD but 2800 i sway to high for a vehicle with this kind of mileage havent gone to check it out yet ... but i will this week...any ideas on what i can offer ?
Thanks

1999 jeep cherokee sport 2800 obo
new tires
mp3 radio
car alarm with remote start
170000 miles
oil change every 3000 miles/doesnt burn or smoke any
4x4 excellent on the snow
new batttery
new alternator
clean inside and out
no rust
power windows/locks
I know to check for rust, see if it's the Dana 35 or Chrysler 8.25.
i think the Dana was a stronger unit?
Thanks for your help guys and hopefully ill have it soon.
Thanks

Well even a well maintained vehicle with 170k could potentially have some problems just because of wear and age. Just realize you are not buying a "new" vehicle. That's why it's 2500 not 25000!

Well if it has been maintained there really shouldnt be too much heavy maintenance as long as you jsut plan on driving it as a daily driver. The trans and engine in these are pretty solid. The Chrysler rear axle is also nicer than the D35. If you pick it up though I would change out the sparkplugs, do an oil change, and coolant flush for good measure. Its just good policy when buying a used vehicle.
Also some things to check for:
-rust underneath
-rust on quarter panels
-oil for traces of water just incase (milky color)
-dirty coolant
-make sure the transmission fluid doesnt smell burnt.
If the owner of the vehicle wont allow you to look things over just walk away from it (probably trying to hide something) Just trying to help you out cause Ive had buddies get burned on car deals.
