Default Done with the XJ

Have been thinking about selling my Jeep for a while now and upgrading to a half ton truck as I would like something that can tow a bit better. Since I was in an accident last week (their fault) the insurance company is writing off my Jeep, at first I thought this sucked. Then the insurance company got back to me on what they believed my Jeep was worth (not a spec of rust on it and absolutely perfect mechanically) with 270,000 KMS. Turns out they offered me $4600, so needless to say that has completely made up my mind. I get to take it on one last big fishing adventure this weekend as it is still drivable so as of next week I will be sans XJ.

Just wanted to say that this is a great forum here and it has been very useful when planning out the modifications I have done.

You should keep the xj and use the rear of the money for a down payment, then you can tow the xj with your new truck. Just an idea

I have had 2 jeep written off on insurance.... I now regret not buying back either. I could have bought my 94 back for $600.... I got $5400 for it (it was in 2003) even though it would have been a salvage title... I could have repaired, lifted and got it inspected.... then paid for almost half a year of college... My god I was young as stupid.

Here it was... Now that I know my way around an XJ it would have been totally fixable.

It is up to you.... but If heaven forbid my current XJ is totaled I will either part it out or fix it... I will NOT let the insurance have it!

I would love to keep it as a trail rig. But I just don't get out much with it in the trails. I mostly use it to go fishing and camping, which can be done with the truck. I also have a street/race car that I sometimes need to tow around on the trailer. Maybe in a few years I will look at getting back into it, but for now I just do not have the time to have another toy.
