Either you want. Chromo and aluminum are both strong.
I have a bit of experience with chrome-molly though from bike frames and it's good stuff, Aluminum not so much

i have never seen an aluminum roll cage... but i have seen a PVC roll bar. lol.

chromolly, well, might as well use titanium... a bit more money, but much lighter.

why would anyone bash on you for wanting to build a roll cage out of the proper materials..
if you haven't already, just go get some HREW and start making triangles
