Digital Cluster Swap
So I checked the prices of a local salvage yard the other day and noticed they only charge $15 for an instrument cluster. Since I've always loved the digital clusters of the 80s, I've thought about swapping a cluster into my jeep with some fabrication. Does anyone know if it will work? Also, what kind of fabrication would be necessary to complete the task and what vehicle would match up easier to do the swap? I was thinking maybe a cluster out of a dodge daytona/plymouth laser?

Years a go, I had a '94 Chevy Blazer. The digital cluster went out in it. A used one, depending on the mileage listed on it. Determined the price. the prices ranged from $250 (High mi.)to $1250 (low mi.). And $2500 for a new one. I paid the $250 plus core. For one with 35,000 more miles, Than I originally had. And so much for any (Legal) resell. And when I went to put it in, The factory seals where already broken on the mounting bolts. So high mileage cars w/digital dash, can be replaced with a lower mileage digital dash. Greatly increasing resell value. Which what I believe had be done to me. And if you think that's bad. The overhead console in a jeep, with compass/temp. (module). If you want to replace it with a new module, from a Jeep dealer. The price is $695. I bought a used overhead console, off E-bay for $65. Just to pull the module out, for mine. So good luck in your project. Might be easier, and cheaper, with new LED gauges.
