youre comparing apples to oranges. the 5.0 ford motor also had an additional 1,000 rpm operating range and would run circles around the jeep engine performancewise .

That was my point. Just by looking at the horsepower numbers the Jeep 4.0 is very close to the rated horsepower to one of the top American made muscle cars of the period. In all reality, torque is what wins races on Sunday, horsepower sells on Monday.

If we can't keep 223 ft/lb of tq on the ground, where would any extra $ put into more power get us?
