Deaver spring flex?
Im strongly considering getting deaver springs all around because i like to do some go fast stuff out in the dunes. plus i want springs that are going to last. just curious if deavers flex just as good as most other springs? or if since there a stiffer spring that they wont flex good? anyone run deavers? hopefully XJLI will see this. thanks!

i thought that Deavers springs were more for like JeepSpeed than crawling, mainly cuz they are a 10 spring pack and pretty pricy

i dont have a lot of pictures, really didnt get to wheel much last season. here are two pics...
keep in mind im not setup for lots of droop.. 11" travel shocks front, 13" rear. as of now theyre set in the middle at ride height so i get 5.5" up and 5.5" down up front, 6.5" up, 6.5" down in the back. the coils are almost unseated up front at full droop right now, leafs still have a bit more to go. theyre not what you want if you're looking for stupid amounts of droop bc they are a LOT stiffer than other springs. if you want good springs for a bit cheaper, grab some BDS coils and clayton leafs. little softer so they'll flex more, plus theyre cheaper. you're gonna want some nice shocks too... if you're serious about going fast grab some 7100s or fox 2.0s with the 5/8s shaft (with correct valving!). theyre cheap enough but still quality rebuildable shocks.

thank you for the response! i have considered going with the bds/clayton route. the 6.5 inch bds coils are 240ft/lbs. i just emailed clayton asking what the spring rates are on the 4.5 inch leaf. anyone know the spring rate on the bds leafs? i believe they only make a 5 inch leaf. im looking for around 5.5 of lift but ill be ok with 6.5 after it settles down i think. and yeah im thinking either 7100s or fox. if i go with fox do you think theres a big difference between the 5/8th and 7/8 shaft? theres about a $100 difference in price per shock
7100=fox 2.0 5/8
9100=fox 2.0 7/8
if you go fox, order them from fox direct or poly and let them know its for a cherokee and you wanna go fast so they can valve them accordingly. fox shocks ship 40/60 i think and its a pretty light valve.

i will most likely go with fox 2.0 5/8th or 7100s. it will save some money. thanks for taking the time to explain. whats a good happy medium spring rate? i have a feeling the claytons are going to have to light of a spring rate. i just finished emailing clayton, bds and full traction to figure out the spring rates on the leafs and coils

Deaver spring flex?
I honestly don't know what the deaver leafs are, but I'm sure either BDS or Clayton stuff will perform great. I know ktmracer419 ran the Clayton leaf packs and liked them. The deaver coils are like 260/290 progressive or something

bds said there pack contains 7 leafs and the spring rate is average 220 lb/in. clayton said "
Hello. I do not have that information available. Clayton might be able to look it up but he will be out for a few days.
Basically our leaf springs are designed for a smooth soft ride onroad, with good flex offroad. They are not intended for jumping or racing.
If you still need the actual spring rate, let me know, and Ill see what info I can find."
bds leafs are 215 a peice. claytons are 240 a peice. right now im leaning towards bds because i think they claytons might be too soft? has anyone heard anything about full traction leafs?

just to make sure im thinking about this right, the deaver coils should have no problem flexing/drooping right? its the leafs i should be worried about?
