My deal beats your deal.
I got my '87 w/all the goodies for $150 from a neighbor....It didnt run, but whatever... I stripped all the goodies, and put them underneath my '89, and brought the '87 to the salvage yard where I got $200 for it.
So in essence I was actually paid $50 to have it.

good deal.
a few years ago, i bought two 87 xj's for 300 bux, both with d44s. drove one home with the rebuilt engine and trailered the other behind my dakota.
then a couple years ago, i bought a 93 laredo with 150kms (80k miles) for 100 bux. bad nss.

In the 84-86 models with the 2.8, the tow package was not for the XJ to tow anything, it was so it could be towed when the crappy 2.8 broke down and left you stranded.

My best deal was a 93 ZJ with a bad t-case and broke front axle and a 91 XJ with a blown rear and was hit in the rear quarter, both for 400 bucks. Put the t-case and front axle out of the XJ in the ZJ as well as the front springs in the rear of the ZJ, had some leftover 4" springs in the garage to lift the front. Sold the then lifted ZJ on stock tires for 800, the motor and tranny from the 91 for 250 and scrapped the body for another 150. I think I came out ok.
