Exclamation Dana 60 Axle ID help??

found a guy with a Dana 60 front axle assembly on craigslist. He claims its out of a 1994 Ford F250 yet a quick web search showed that the majority of the front axles were Dana 50's. He emailed me a pic of the Ford tag on the axle but I am having no luck confirming its really a 60.
I will be heading over to his place tomorrow to look it over. He bought them for SAS yet needs the money so the price is decent.
Any help is appreciated.
BTW, its the ball joint front end but I am not concerned about that.

I do believe anything from 92-99 in a 3/4/1ton ford truck will be a D50. Not a really bad axle but not the best.. I would give 300 for it if it was complete and useable.. less depending on condition.

If it was a 94 F-350 it would have a ball joint Dana 60.

The Dana 50 in the 94 F-250 was a twin traction beam axle. That's not what he sent you a picture of. I'd guess that was a 60.

Do you have a picture of the rest of the axle? Or the BOM number?

No I don't have any other pics. Only thing I have found out from the Ford tag is the 248 number which is supposed to be D60. I plan on measuring the pinion nut (1 5/8" for D60 versus the 1 1/8" for D50) when I get there. I was hoping someone was able to decipher the Ford tag.
Only found D60 in F350 but guy claims it is out of F250.
Any ideas of what number will be stamped in the axle tube?
Thanks

Look on the housing and it'll have 60 on the right lower side on the webbing about an inch past where the diff cover bolts on. All Dana axles have this, easiest way to tell what it is. D50 isn't bad, somewhere between a D44 and D60 but not much aftermarket support.

The BOM number will tell you all you need to know.

Ask for pictures of the center and of the knuckles that will tell you more.No f250 stock had a dana 60 but some have swapped them in to lose the ttb,So it could have came from a f250 but wasn't stock. If you buy it what is it going in your xj ?

Talk about newb. Went down this morning and met the guy. It is a Dana 60 out of a 2004 F250 SD. No bom on tubes and pinion nut measured at 1 1/2 inches. 248 on factory tag and 248 cast into housing. No "60" found on web at pumpkin.
I bought it.
Front Dana 60 wheel to wheel
Rear ford sterling 10.25 wheel to wheel
Included factory aluminum wheels and tires with some meat on them.
Disk brakes all around so I think I scored.

I paid $800 for everything. Will post some pics tomorrow.
I already have someone in line to buy factory rims and ties for $100.
Thanks to all

If you got that from a 2004 the rear axle will be a 10.50 sterling 10.25 was in the OBS ford trucks and had drum brakes, the super duties got a 10.50 rear axle and rear disc brakes. They did use D 50s up into the 2000s.
I scored a Dana 60 for my F 250 for 300 plus a bumper. I know for fact if it is a D60 it will be cast into the pumpkin as said above.

Default Its a Dana 60

Went over it this morning and found the Dana BOM. It's not stamped into the tube, more like laser etched so it didn't show through the paint and dirt. Ran the number through the Dana and it comes up so it is a D60 front with ball joints.

I cleaned up the pumpkin looking for the 60 on the webbing and still cannot locate it. Doesn't really matter at this point.

Thanks for the help.
