You should be aware that anything 00-01 Have low pinion front axles so If I were you Id opt for something 97-99.

I believe you can because its still the same front axle and I believe most of the steering and suspension components are the same (someone correct me if im wrong) But otherwise everything should be the same.

Yeah I think you can go older, just make sure you try and stay with the same models. Cause I went to get driveshafts for my 92 sport and I ran into four dirrferent size driveshafts. But that was for the rear. Cause there was the 4.0 and the 2.8

Just something to think about.

you can pull parts from 95 and newer. Otherwise your driveshafts will be wrong. Make sure to get a HP front though. They'll be in all but 00-01 XJ's.

correct me if im wrong front axle imo go with the hp but all should bolt up from what info i have gathered i have a 93 2wd im converting and i now have 97 front and rear axles i do know the 97 front axle had different calipers and brake hoses which was fine cause i took every thing from the hard lines down off the doner jeep something to keep in mind ok now to your tranny and t-case i have heard both that you could use your 2wd with and adapter plate(which i heard is more expensive than a good used aw4) but the u have to find a t-case with the right spline count but what im doing is just swapping tranny and t-case together but i have heard as well the 91-96 has different elc. plugs and such than 97-01 correct me if im wrong but i think that right
