So as the title says im looking to upgrade my cooling system. Mostly because at times my temps can rise slightly over 210 while wheeling on a hot summer day at the beach. Also some of the parts just need to be changed out due to age

What I'm looking to upgrade to is : the CSF 3 core radiator, ZJ clutchfan, and 97 XJ aux fan. Im also changing the waterpump but sticking to an oem unit. My question is

1) if I go with a csf 3 core radiator can i still run a zj clutch fan?
2) my truck is a 96 i wanted to go with a 97 aux fan. Does anyone know if this swap is plug and play?

Why not swap the clutch fan for electric?

ZJ clutch on your much fan is LOUD yea it pulls a lot of air , but its big (might be too big for a 3row rad I'm not sure) and LOUD and never disengages like a stock clutch would when its cruising on the highway. So it could rob your power and MPGs that you have left lol. BUT it will pull more air.

I'd suggest just replacing all the cooling system pump, thermostat, rad cap, any hoses that are bad and get a new OEM fan clutch. Hayden. Along with your 2 or 3 row rad and an aux fan that's wired so you can turn it on BEFORE it gets hot. You should be good. Oh and make sure you have a fan shroud.

I don't recommend getting rid of the mechanical fan, only because on a slim chance if both electric fans fail, you have NO fan. That's just my opinion though.

I'm def going to stay with the clutch fan. Does anyone know about doing the 97 fan into a 96? Thanks for the feedback so far

Not sure about the newer fan plugging right in. But I will tell you from experience that you can run a 3 row radiator and a ZJ clutch with no problem. Make sure your motor mounts are in good shape though, so your fan doesn't go flying through the upgraded, expensive radiator.

I did a zj fan clutch. it's almost as loud as my exhaust and I still run hot in traffic and while crawling. useless. I'm going dual electric with switches. it's just better

can you tell me why you think you need a 3 row? or why a 3 row is better than 2 row? if so, go ahead and get it

can't explain it? that's because a stock replacement 2 row will do just as well. just because 3 is a bigger number doesn't mean it's better

You could put some hood louvers on too.

mixed with dual electric fans to switches, you will be able to move massive amounts of air through your engine bay. my cowl hood is like a heater/ windshield defroster
