Comanche builds
I am about to purchase a 1986 Jeep Comanche 2.8L V6 4x4, I was wondering if you guys would know a spot where I can find some builds on Comanche's. I am looking to add a 4.0, 97+ Cherokee front end and some other things. It is already lifted with a 4.5 inch lift and 33s but I would like to make it into an ultimate trail rig so if you guys have any pictures or threads I can look at that would be great.

Well sadly since you have the lift and tires i would focus everything on reaplcing the pathetic 2.8 v-6.
xj and commanches pr 87 you will not be able to drop a 4.0 right in in 87 when the installed the 4.0 jeep did a major change to to front end/radiator area to be able to install a 4.0.
Your best bet is to find a junk 87+ jeep/commanche to use the front end parts and wiring harness from, along with tranny since the one behind wont bolt up to the 4.0 since it uses the gm bellhousing.
Or if you were willing to settle you can drop in a gm 3.1 or 3.4 v6.
But i dont see alot of bulit commanches so hope to see what you come up with.

It's in pretty rough shape. One of the Comanche Club members took a look at it and called it a basket case.

Yeah, thats the one I was going to buy, do you think it would be a bad choice to buy it, I have always wanted a Comanche and the price is pretty good but do you think I would have more problems with it then actually enjoying it.

AutoMan2164 from Comanche Club, is the one that took a look at it. He said it was in pretty bad shape and had some hack work done to it, namely rust repair. If you PM Rob over there.. he will gladly give you the lowdown. He likes his Jeeps to look as nice as yours, so if he passed on that project. There was a really good reason for it.
