Could be a wheel joint. How is alignment? Do you feel a tug at the steering wheel when it happens?
Try getting the suspect wheel jacked up off the ground about 10cm. Slide a pry bar underneath and lift it up against the wheel a bit to see if you can get the wheel to make a clunk. If it does, you need a wheel joint. If not, start moving inward towards your front differential.. How is your access to a decent mechanic?

thanks alignment seems ok,steers ok just wondered if id broke something dont do serious off road, but at 60mph shakes put that down to balancing needed (i hope) i use a mechanic but not 4x4 specialist only had jeep about 4 months pleased with it on the whole have changed alternator battery and this week radiator want it all sorted.especially for winter and i would like to put bigger tyres and raise it up a bit.but basics first.
unfortunately dont have space tools or facilities to do myself.

Well, I'd place a strong wager ya didn't break a thing! Jeeps are solid. However! That doesn't exclude the possibility that an old part, with basic wear and tear, may be getting worn out. I still say check the u-joints and wheel joints and then move inward toward the differential.

Glad your going about the process in the correct manner! Make sure all the odds and ends are taken care of first, then have fun. You mentioned the radiator- getting a new one or just flushing your coolant system? Unless your radiator is damaged, I'd really recommend a good "system flush". If its overheating, consider a new thermostat and radiator cap, too. And, while we're on the subject of sorting out all the basics, the afore mentioned u joints, as well as things like tie rod ends (TRE's) and bushings are all prone to wearing out over time. Basically, what I mean is, everything highlighted in the picture is important in order for it to be proper!

Your welcome. Good luck with your jeep! And enjoy this winter- with good tyres and the 4wd you will be unstoppable! May I suggest a tyre that's awesome all year, including winter- the Wrangler DuraTrac's. I've run mine for almost 3 years straight. Still enough tread to get thru summer, but some new ones before the snow gets here would be nice..

Good lugs for most any off roading you'll do and lots of siping for snow traction!

Your wheels should be 15x7" which can handle a much larger tyre, so a 235/75 is totally good to go!

Trusted source.. Not certain what shipping will bring the cost to.. They are a bit pricey, but a great tyre! http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....TOWL&tab=Sizes

Haha. I always forget how big a gap it is in time.. I have relatives in Edinburgh and I believe northern England. Such an incredible area!
