Default Cigarette lighter and radio problem

Hi,

I’m a total beginner with anything to do with cars/jeeps etc. So wondering if anyone can help please.

1st problem- my cigarette lighter doesn’t work. I’ve changed the fuses under the bonnet (hood if you’re American) and still not working. Any advice? (I want to use it to charge my sat nav or phone etc while driving.

2nd problem. Can I change the radio? To something with a CD player or MP3 in it?

I've attached picture.

my Jeep is a Cherokee sport 03 plate.

thanks

Hello,

Check the fuse panel on the drivers side dash end. Should be Fuse 3.

As for the radio, the one pictured has a CD player already. If you want MP3 or bluetooth you can always go with an aftermarket radio, they're fairly easy to install.

I’ll have a look, don’t think I’ve noticed that there’s a fuse box in that place.

and I feel a bit silly saying CD player. I knew it had a CD player so not sure why I put that. Thanks though. I’ll have a look for the one you mentioned.

thanks for replying so soon.

You stated in your first post you have an 03 Cherokee?

For us yanks across the pond, the Cherokee name died after 2001. They then made the Jeep Liberty here, but continued to call it Cherokee in GB and Europe. Not sure about the diagram above, but there will be another fuse panel somewhere in the front of the cabin. If the fuses all check out, it's possible that the 12v socket is bad, easily replaced if so.
As for the stereo, there's tons of aftermarket replacements, and they have Bluetooth connectivity to your phone, USB connectivity for devices, wired auxiliary input, and DVD even, if you're so inclined. Find a local automotive audio dealer and see what works best for you.

You can find good info about radios and what will fit at www.crutchfield.com

Even if you can't order from them, you can find out what will work.
