cherokee vs wrangler (pics)
I currently have a 1998 xj with 4.0 and 172k miles, bone stock, Chrysler 8.25 slight trail rash on the right rocker panel.
My jeep:
I was surfing craigslist and found a 1999 TJ SPORT 4.0 auto with 192k D35 out back and D30 in front that supposably had been towed behind a RV for most of those miles. Its lifted 4 with a rough country setup. has steel fenders, warn bumpers front and back with a spare carrier and rockers has 5 almost like new 35 MT/Rs on steel D's, tow package
the bad:
lots of scratches and two dents, one on the hood one on the passenger rear corner
the seat belt for the driver is busted, says it needs a new spring, cost 55 bux
turn signals were snapped off on the front
needs new bushings in the rear, he has them, just hasnt put them in yet
I talked to him, he said my jeep and 3k, that was before i saw his, i am now thinking, my xj and 2k
the TJ:
whats your thoughts?

Good looking girl, thats my toughts lol, but i do have a biased opinion, you could spend that two grand on 5 inches of lift and some big tires, or some bumpers and a winch and fix that damage with parts from the jy

Dana 35 with 35's?
X2 for 2 grand you could lift yours ans fix it and be just as good offroad. Plus is that TJ re-geared? Did the dude tell you they were MT/R's if so hes retarded cause those are BFG's.
My thoughts...

Is the hottie included in the deal? I have to agree with everyone else on investing the 2K into your XJ. The slightly longer wheelbase is a little more stable offroad as well as the extra "dry" storage space for all your offroad gear in the back.

it doesnt matter if it was towed or not. still has the miles. and thats if hes telling the truth. plus he has a D35, never said anything about regearing. your 4.0 has less miles. the TJ looks nice, but they hold their value because every sucker wants one. and i wouldnt do yours and 3k no way unless yours is worse then it sounds. i would stick the money into your xj. 3.5 RE and some tires for 2K easily.

thats been the general thoughts from everyone that i have asked, I think a RC 4.5 with possably a BB and try sticking a set of A/T 33's. i just wonder how much that is going to run. I know that the rear sags enough that AAl are are out the question so a full pack is mandatory
