cherokee revival, or disrespect?
"Jeeps are the most unreliable piece of trash vehicles you could ever own." -No one. Ever.
I don't get this, my Cherokee is the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. The only problem I ever had was an issue with the wiring to the fuel pump, which was fixed by replacing with heavier gauge wire.
As to bringing back the Cherokee, the only way that would be successful, would to make it like the original, inexpensive, straight axles and very basic in standard form. They could offer upgrades for the yuppies that have to keep up with the Jones's next door. If they kept the weight down, and used modern engines, and transmissions, the fuel economy would be there.
Just my opinion, for what it's worth.

They've already released a statement saying the Liberty is ending in 2014 I believe it was. And they still make Cherokees in other parts of the world so I don't think they can name the liberty a Cherokee if they continue it.
