cherokee revival, or disrespect?
They don't still make the Cherokee anywhere. China was the only one producing it until a few years ago and the Liberty is called Cherokee outside the US. They're ending the Liberty entirely here in the US and replacing it with a new Cherokee based on the new Dodge Dart platform.
World of difference between what we drive and what "Jeep" produces today. The new Cherokee is going to be based on the Dodge Dart, that should tell you all you need to know about it.

This thing is horrible. I can't believe they're bringing the Cherokee back looking like that. It looks like a chick car (no offense to any female members on here) with no off road capability at all.
I wouldn't necessarily blame Fiat for "ruining Jeep". They were digging that hole long before Fiat came into the picture. Look at the first Liberty, then the Patriot and Compass. Those vehicles were out well before Fiat came into the picture. To be honest, I actually LIKE many of the things that Fiat is doing with Chrysler as a whole. I nurse a semi everytime I see a Dart. I've driven them, sat in them, toyed with buying one for a while. They are fantastic little cars. Fiat got the "small displacement turbo" thing going over here for Dodge/Chrysler, which is something I'm a big fan of. Ford was WAY ahead of the game with their Ecoboost, and it would have taken Chrysler years to catch up. Fiat sped them up on that, as small displacement turbo engines have been a mainstay in Europe for many, many years. Overall, I like what Fiat is doing with the car side of things. I don't like what Jeep is doing, but like I said, they started down that road well before Fiat bought them. I believe Jeep should be tough SUV-type vehicles, not cars with a 2" lift. Unfortunately, I think the fuel mileage standards are a big part of why the car-like vehicles keep coming. In addition, as gas prices fluctuate, people seem to run away from anything SUV like cockroaches when the lights come on. With the economy in such a tight situation, I can understand why they aren't putting all their eggs in the "rugged SUV" basket. Again, doesn't mean I like it, but that IMO is where they are coming from.
I wish they could just get back to where they were in the 90's. Wrangler/Cherokee/Grand Cherokee. Focus on those three, and find the balance of good fuel economy and safety standards with modern powertrains that can meet the fuel mileage standards, and there you go.

so assume its only FWD based car? (cant call this really a jeep so sorry for that)
it's just looks like an Kia sportage. small SUV based car mostly only 2WD.

Personally the Jeep brand has been dead to me since they killed off the XJ, ZJ, and TJ.

I love all the Fiat bashing, they saved the company you guys all love. I listened to an interview Sergio marchionne and he said he plans in keeping the grand Cherokee and wrangler 100% made in the USA; called them the image of the jeep brand or something like that. You guys don't understand that the company needs to profit with easy sellers (like car based small SUVs) that people buy a lot of so they can turn out lower profit margin special models... Like the rubicon. Jeep SUCKED in the early 2000s til when fiat took over. It was run right into the ground and the only things that kept it alive was brand loyalty and the rubicon TJ.
Looks like the new cherokees gonna have wifi and no cargo space...yeah thats a jeep..lmao. theyll figure it out in like another fifteen years when were all still fixing our xjs and finally release a barebones ORV and itll only cost 9k new because it wont have bluetooth and wifi lol
