Default Cherokee Front Seats in the Back?

Has anyone taking the front seats out of a Jeep Cherokee and put them in the back. After putting some GC seats up front I am trying to decide whether to put the GC bench in the back or the old XJ front seats.

Thanks,
Jon

My idea is to make my own seat brackets that span from the piece of metal that goes across under the seat to a flat point at the begging of the guard rail. That way I can also create some more room under the seat for things like jacks, snow brushes and other assorted items that you don't use all of the time. To add to the back I thought about putting a center console back there for storage and cup holders.

Haha I was debating on making brackets like that but wasn't sure on how much clearance you would have so then I thought about cutting out the floor their and lowering it and was gonna make an aluminum center console that went all the way back and in the back make like a door that lifts up for storing straps and what not in it and maybe building a cooler into it

My 87 front seats are probably the most uncomfortable seats I have ever sat in. Now if you swapped in 4 zj seats i might be interested

I was looking at this option when I did my full WJ swap. You can fit a couple of XJ fronts, but overhead clearance is VERY tight. This is because you have to make the seats sit at the cargo floor level. You won't be able to run a enter console between them either. To run 2 seats back there, you end up fighting against the rear wheel wells for space, pushing the seats closer together than they are up front. Both issues are even worse with running ZJ/WJ front seats in the rear. Their extra size puts the headrest right at the roof, and leaves no space between the two. If you want more leg room in the back, you loose cargo room, but then you also have to severely angle the backs (gangsta driving position) in order for anyone over 10 years of age to fit back there. Even doing the ZJ/WJ 60/40 rear will give you less leg room, but I thought it was the better option. Your extra passengers get much more comfortable seats, adjustable head rests, and you keep your cargo room. The 60/40 split is nice in that you can still fold down the one side for extra cargo space while keeping an extra seat available.

since you allready have the seats set them in there and see what every one is talking about. you will have to do some cutting and fabbing. it can be done and i think its awesome but only if you have other storage options.

^^ That's a lot more room than what I had when I did a test fit. I probably just had them in there wrong. That set up would definitely work. He's on here under that user (odgreen89on35s) so def hit him up on how he did it. My only issue with it is you completely lose the capability of the extra cargo room.
