Someone school me on this cause I have never seen or heard of one these before and the price they're asking sounds ridiculous.

Diesel engines were an option for exported XJ's. They are rare here, but I don't think $10k would be worth it in my opinion.

So then it must have been imported from another country then? And yea the price made me laugh. 10k for something that's been sitting for 6 years lol. You could buy a completely lifted and done up xj around here for less than 5k

The export Jeeps had the Venture Motori 2.5 TD. This is a factory option in north america. It's a Renault 2.1 turbodiesel. Rare option from 85-87. They had **** for horsepower/torque and parts are hard to find/expensive. Also the firewall was slightly different in these models and supposedly you cannot swap in a 4.0 if you felt like it. Only good thing would be the gas mileage, and probably not even that good lol.

He'll never sell that for 10k. I want a diesel Cherokee bad. But you would be stuck like chuck when something on the engine goes bad. As said before parts are scarce and rare.

If you wanted a diesel Cherokee you would be better off swapping one in. Like a VW 1.6 or Cummins 4bt or the one I've looked into a Mercedes OM617.

Lmao

It does kinda look like it. I had to open CF in the browser because I forgot what it was. Yea that was some pork cutlets I was frying up. Mmmmm....

Anyways, you would be insane to put a 6bt in am XJ. A 4bt is heavy enough iirc about 700lbs and a 6bt is about 1000 lbs. Plus a 6bt is longer and a lil bit taller.

I looked at a 4bt swap and since the 4bt is a somewhat desireable, people aren't letting go of them for cheap. The Mercedes Benz OM617 is a 5cyl 3.0L Turbo diesel with no electronics. You can get them in 85-87 Mercedes cars and wagons. I found a couple on craigslist one was a scam of some sort. The other needed a starter and he wouldn't come down on the price so I wasn't going to buy with out hearing it crank. As soon as I find a good donor. I'm making a diesel xj.

I wasn't looking at buying this. No way. I could build up my 99 xj for less then that. But every now and then I go and see what's on Craigslist and this caught my curiosity.

There was a nice looking one around here for a long time for under 1k it even made it's way onto ebay. It was in need of an engine rebuild but for 9k you could easily do that
