I paid $800 for my one owner, well maintained, never wheeled, 95 with 130,000 miles. Had to replace the water pump, front brakes, heater blower motor....thats it. I bought it as a daily driver but now I am lifting it to fit the 31's. Good vehicles....just be patient to find the right one at the right price. I would buy one that is stock, that way you know it hasn't been wheeled to death...plus YOU get the fun of building it!!

Good luck

I thought they were a little high as well but figured I could make them an offer and see what happens. Here one more in my area http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...e&rdpage=thumb

All 3 of those were way overpriced. You can definately find decent Cherokee with a better sale price. If you have the time to look for the right one then do it.

Mine is a 90 that was bought by my parents in 94 with 60k on it. 16 years later and 175k more miles (for a total of 235k) it still runs like a top with mostly basic work done to it.

Im just worried about getting one that has had a lot of problems. I dont want to buy one and spend more time working on it then driving it.

Apparently you hae never heard the Jeep mottos.

JEEP Just Empty Every Pocket

JEEP - Making mechanics out of ordinary people for over half of a century.

Just kidding, I spend way to much time wrenching on mine to do repairs. Not because it is unreliable but because I beat the snot out of it when I hit the trails.

$6,000 is a little pricey for any XJ, although the black one has a few extra parts on it. The BFG KM2's and the wheels alone are worth well over $1000!

I honestly think that you're gonna hard-pressed to find anything else with fewer miles. I really wouldn't all that concerned with the miles, 4.0's run forever as long as they're properly maintained. I would consider just getting one with a few more miles on it and paying half as much, ya know?

As far as MPG, you should expect to get at least 16 on the highway.

My advice... keep looking around and you'll find EXACTLY what you want and need.

Also, feel free to ask more questions here. We'll be happy to help you with your decision!!!

keep in mind also the newer ones with the new front clip are going to be alot more expensive you can find the 80's and early 90's modles alot cheaper and change the front clip. just keep an eye on craigslist thier's always someone out thier getting rid of one.

I bought my 01 sport for a little under $7k with 65k on it. Some people probably think thats too much, but it was a single owner, full service history, garaged, and my mechanic buddy gave it a full inspection and told me to buy it.

It only got 14 on the highway at first, but after tunning it up and switching to 89 octane I bumped up to 20-21 on the highway. I'm switching over to mustang fuel injectors this weekend that should bump me up a couple more mpgs. Good luck with your search, let us know what you get.
