Question Changing my V6 Cherokee Engine & baby safety

Hi all, I am a total car novice but I do know that my lovely jeep is costing me a fortune in petrol. It's a V6, 3.7 Limited Edition Auto and the body work, interior and general is in great condition.
I'm not ready to sell it but do want to improve its efficiency!
It has been suggested I get a different engine fitted?
Somebody suggested converting to LPG?
I know a few good guys who will be up for the challenge.

What would you all suggest?

Also, I am due to welcome twins into my family very soon and am concerned about baby seat fittings and air bags.

Any advice is great fully appreciated.

Engine swap not viable or worth it. You would be better off selling it and getting an econocar.

Baby safety? All you can do is strap a good baby seat down. Nothing you can "improve" really.

Your jeep gets bad mileage because it is shaped like a jeep.

Welcome to the forum.

Don't bother with a swap, but a conversion to lpg might work for you:

fyi: what you call a cherokee over there goes by the liberty name in the states

Thank you for your replies. Current mpg is 18-20 !!!!! LPG Conversion sounds a plan.

LPG is the way ahead. I have it on my 97 cherokee and 2000 BMW 330. You get much better cost per mile, even if the actual mpg is a little lower (approx 10%).

There's a very informative forum in the UK which has everyone from people asking their first questions up to professional installers.

FWIW I'd recommend finding a good installer and paying for quality work. Cheapo installs tend to lead to a total PITA and a vehicle that you can't trust any more.

Your getting around normal mpg for it.LPG or getting a smaller car would be your best options.
