Default Center Console Rig

So if your Cherokee is like mine, it didn't come with cupholders. The ones you buy that screw in to the center console don't hold anything but cans and small bottles. I got tired of having to hold all my cups and bottles because they wouldn't fit. So I saw one of those consoles that they have at Advanced Auto and Walmart sitting around in the garage. I thought I might could put it behind the shifter. No deal. So I thought a little while and figured out a way. I removed the stock center console from the hinge. I took that and put it on the console where the old lid used to be. It took some trimming, but I finally got a perfect fit. Then I marked where the hinge would be. You can either use two screws or do like I did. I used super strength double sided tape and it holds perfect. Now I've got two cupholders and space for whatever else I want to put on tup, plus all the stuff still in the console itself. Now i've just got to take it off and paint it black to match everything else. Here's some picks to show you my rigged up console.

Pretty cool plan. I rest my arm on the center console so it wouldn't work for me.

Nice idea. Im doing something similiar but moutning it in front just right so the e-brake can still be engaged. But I like the idea. Something I havent seen yet, but so simple it makes me think "Why didnt I think of that?" lol

I love how that works! So simple, but so effective. If it had a pad on the top in back of the cup holder it would be perfect for me. I might have to fab up something like this.

Great job of thinking outside of the box!
