Question: Anyone using a hand held CB. I stopped by Radio Shack today just to see what that had. They have a 200 Channel and a 40 Channel hand held. Are they any good or should I look for a mounted CB.

Hand helds aren't great plus you can get a basic setup for trails for the same price as a hand held. Everything you need is it radio shack for basic setup

get a mobile .. when I go offroading i will usually carry both ... the handheld is great for when one person gets stuck and communicating with the rest of the group. Also look at Craigslist ... you can some nice deals on Cobra 29's and better for $50 and up

VHF/UHF radios are becoming more common due to the fact that you get weather alerts/ warnings and the Game Wardens, Park Rangers and Emergency crews use them.
