idk if they have them everywhere but round here we have luvs truck stops and thats the best priced cb stuff ive found you they have some cbs as low as 35bucks and they have full magnet antenna mounts with cable and all for 25bucks lots better products and lot better prices than anything ive seen in radio shack but im guessin any truck stop would have bout same stuff
you could go in there and buy everything you need new for bout 60bucks just all depends on what kinda set up you want
my set up works great how ever ill probly end up changeing my antenna the magnet base works great except on trails with a lotta low hangin tree limbs it will eventually pull the magnet base off the roof then ya might end up like me a big *** scratch mark down the side of the jeep where the magnet skidded across the paint on the door lol

here is mine... galaxy 959 and a kenwood 721a, pic was taken after the install of the 721, so the cords aren't stuffed and secured in this pic. i use the kenwood more then the cb, i also carry a yaesu vx-3r handheld with me cause i can use the kennwood as a 2m to 7cm or vice versa repeater witch is REALLY REALLY cool.

Couple options here:
1. There's a Nashville in Eastern New Mexico that I'm not aware of.
2. You were on vacation in Eastern New Mexico.
3. Someone lied about where they were keying up from.
or
4. You're full of it.
There's absolutely no way possible for a Citizens Band radio in a truck to transmit 1,100 miles. Amp or no amp.

When I say transmit that far I don't mean hear a blip of someone. I mean have a conversation with them on a reliable signal.
We're going to try and talk to someone by bouncing signals off the atmosphere.
