Default cb radio antenna mount

i recently bought a 102" whip antenna from radioshack and i was wondering do i need a spring to mount it on so it doesnt break or to make it safer? and do i need to have a stronger mount?

I used to run them on pick ups with no spring. Usually they get bent on the other end when they wrap around something at high speed.
