Cash for Clunkers
Please don't make this political - but I have to say I was really frustrated.
I finally found a tranny at a JY - one where they pulled them for you. I got there in time to see the Donor vehicle sitting on on the lift.
It was a beautiful bright red 96 XJ, not a scratch, ding or blush of rust, less than 70000 on the odometer. It was WAY nicer than mine when I bought it 8 years ago.
I asked about just buying the whole XJ, he said no go - it came in under cash for clunkers, he could sell the parts, but not the truck

Cash for Clunkers sucked.
All of a sudden the market for nice, 4wd, Cherokees around here dried the hell up. Yards a full of Cherokees now, though, so I guess that's good for parts...

asked how much for a back bench seat and they wanted $100. i said no and guess what... still sitting inside the cherokee.
went to go get an ac compressor and took it out and brought it to the counter and they said 65 for something that may not even work cause its been sitting for months without a hood.
i hear about junkyards that have dollar days with a entrance fee, but id love that.

It is Illegal for ANY junkyard to still have C4C Auto-Parts For sale now. The 6 month period passed long ago.
And i agree with xjoffroad, Didn't really effect our local market. I made out with a ton of good stuff, Including a Dana 30/ChryCo 8.25 with OEM 4.56 gears, 46re, and 7120 Head, all for less then $200
