Default Carpet cleaning/replacement

Well after pulling the seats out of my 97 XJ I have found that the carpet is filthy imagine that now I was planning on pulling it out and using a carpet cleaner on it, in hopes of making look and smell better!! Has anyone done this? Just wondering if it is better to spend a day cleaning it or buy replacement carpet. I have seen alot of guys just pull it out and rhino line the floor but this is my DD and the boss(wife) didnt like the idea that much. Any ideas or tips would be extremely helpful

I'm a Herculiner member, but if you must keep the carpet then a high pressure steam cleaning is the best solution

When I got my 91 the carpet was in really bad shape. It looked like someone had spilled several big gulps or a few liters of soda on the carpet. It was almost black and very sticky and I thought I would have to replace it. Since I couldn't really afford to buy new carpeting for it I decided to try cleaning first. I pulled it all out and spent a couple of hours on it with the Bissell carpet cleaner and it looks, smells and feels almost as good as new carpet. It turned out way better than I expected.

Does anybody have any tips on cleaning cloth seats? Carpet cleaner just pulls more dirt up from the padding. Any ideas?

I took mine out and literally used a household carpet cleaner/steamer on it and it worked awesome. took out all the stains and most come with handheld attachments to get some harder areas

As far as the seats I took my cloth off and washed it in the washing machine and it came out great and yesterday I pulled all my carpet out and used a regular carpet cleaner with upholstry attachment and it came out better than I expected not all stains came out but its way better looking and smelling

Interesting thread , i was toying with the idea of removing the seats and carpet tomarrow .. I live in oregon , and its just wet out here , jeep i bought needed the back window replaced so obviously there is a lil smell in there.. we cleaned it up pretty good but its not good enough , cuz the rest of the inside is freekin amazing ( i think so any ways ) ... question for all you guys that have done this . Was it a major pain in the *** to pull the carpet out ? do I need to disassemble the panels and stuff too or just the seats ??(reason i ask is that i need to replace the fuel pump as well , i dont wanna drop the tank , i want to go from the access panel in the top , may as well kill two birds with one stone right) i know i could go to the garage and look , but i just got her towed of the mountain , and right now , im diggin this turkey sangwitch ... any pointers are welcome !!

no clue if they stopped doing it in the later years, but on every cherokee I've ever worked on there is no top access.

Dropping the tank is really easy on the cherokee tho.

I tore all the old out. I went to home depot and got indoor out door carpet for my 91. After some trimming and fitting it looked better than the factory carpet. I'm deff doing it to my 99 I just bought. It easy to clean too. Here's a link to my 91 build thread where I did it.
