Default Can I install an Automatic Hurst Shifter in the Cherokee

Has anyone ever heard of a automatic Hurst shifter being put in a Cherokee? Is it even possible?

not sure how it would work with the aw4 as it shares 1 and 2 on the shifter.

you could always do the shift mod, i guess.

Being new to Cherokees I have to ask, are there other shift mods?

What would be the point? Are you looking for a slap-stick or something?

My dad gave me a Hurst shifter off his 63 Falcon when I was little. I have had it in all my cars for the past 15 years. Now that I have a Jeep I want to continue the tradition. I would have gotten a Manual trans but my fiance cant drive a stick. So I had to get an automatic. And if i have to I am planning on getting a new ****, I am not going to mod the one my dad gave me.

by shift mod, i meant to be able to control the shift points in the aw4 by jumping the wires for the tcu. if you google it, you will get lots of info.

the aw4 is a 4 speed auto, but the shift pattern is only 3 clicks. number 1 and 2 are shared and controlled by the transmission control unit.

if you are only looking to use the hurst ****, i'm sure you can make something work by makeshifting a lock button somehow.
