Default Cage with an x design

hey everybody im lookin to do a cage as soon as i get some money for my 97 four door xj. the thing im havin problems with is finding cages that have an x behind the back seats so in case of a roll over my tools and stuff should be contained in the back and not knocking out my passengers. any pictures or ideas are welcome.

You'll prob have to make it yourself and your tools should be secured so that they don't go flying anyway.

Yeah you have to secure stuff. The x wont stop stuff from flying.

the x is to help keep your cage from crushing down on you and to spread the load onto other parts of the cage in a roll over.

x100 you need to have your tools and spare parts secured down. your cage isnt a cargo barrier.

im right around with everyone else, i have tons of tools and recovery equipment in the back, all strapped down. much safer. and the x in a cage is there to protect the passengers better.

i also prefer external roll cages, this is because in a roll over people will try to grab anything they can. (including put their fingers over the roll bar and get them smashed.) personal opinion. some people arnt the smartest when they are rolling around in a jeep with no control.

i was thinking more so along the lines of the x because im planning on putting a cage with two halves to put my tool boxes and coolers or big cargo on the bottom and be secured and put sleeping bags or other light camping supplies on top and putting the x part in to keep that secured.

I have a full cage in my rig...ANd the only thing I carry in mine is a small lunch cooler, a strap, and in the glove box.. I have some small hand tools. Lets face it.. most caged rigs are trailered, and that is where you are going to keep the majority of your tools and parts.

Too many times I have seen loads and stuff shift and hit ppl in near flop/off camber/ severe down hill.

i need a cage not because im a hard core wheeler but because the jeep i bought was rolled and me and my dad straightened it. it is still pretty strong for what it is but not as strong as i want to feel comfortable on the trail in case somthing happens. im only around 16 so when we go out the truck and trailer is dedicated to my dads jeep.

S&W builds a nice cage kit for the XJ used to be reasonble in price.

What I was trying to say is keep all but minor repair stuff at the trailer/camp. No need to have a bunch of junk weighing you rig down and making missles.

MY plans are to get a couple of 50 cal boxes and weld them down in the back. then add eye bolts on each side for a bungee/ratchet strap double tie down.

Is EWS a good choice for material? The price is interesting. Or is DOM or Molly the only way to go?

i like the idea of the amo boxes but the problem with welding them down is that if you need to take them out to the front or to another rig then you cant just take the box you have to take the individual tools to the rig. just a thought.
