a c-clip is a peice of steel in the shap of a c that keeps your axle shafts from coming out of your rear end

i know that they are that...isnt there somethign to do with the front end as well? grill bubper or something

No, on the D30 in your 98 there are no C-clips. Unbolt the hubs and you can pull your front axles right out.

I see, so thats what it is im guessing. whats advantages/disadvantages of this conversion?

All it does is keep your wheel from coming off if you twist off an axle in the rear.

Are you talking about a front clip conversion? If so, it is where they put a '97 and newer front fenders, header panel, grill, lights, etc on a '96 and older Cherokee.
