Default Burning and very unanswered question!!

Hi!
I have a 1993 Jeep Cherokee sport 4.0 litre with the high output. The Jeep only has 40,000 miles on it and is in great shape. I would say better shape than most people keep their newer cars! It has the typical bells and whistles of an old sport model- Roll up windows, cassette, radio, tilt wheel, tinted windows, etc. It is 4wd and it has the more expensive gray metallic paint that was an option back then. It also has added on "Dee Zee" running boards. We are the second owners of the Jeep, but the previous owners were Family Members. So we know and have all the service records. All routine maintenance has been done at the proper times and all other problems were fixed mainly by a registered Jeep dealer. KBB says that it is only worth $3000 but i feel that it is worth much more than that. If you enter in a Jeep (on KBB) that is in much worse shape with a significantly more amount of miles on it, the price only varies a few hundred dollars.

Any Thoughts?! Thanks a lot.

Seen a dealer in my area with a clean low mileage ZJ on the lot, the sticker on the windshield said $6995. I never looked at it up close, so I have no idea of what kind of shape the interior was in.

KBB is a crock of ****.

Its based on what they sell for in your area.

it is based on a mean price. Most "nice cherokees" go 2800-4000 around here and a little more like 4500 for dealers. But I did go look at one they were asking 8000. It was worth 7,000 imo. I didn't buy it cuzz i Didnt have the money. but they are out there. the ones like yours are so rare, that they don't effect the mean price, therefor Kbb covers like 90% of the spectrum but not ALL vehicles.

Honestly dealers should not be using kbb. Financial institutions use nada. Just telling you now sometimes nada gives a better price, some times they don't.

They shouldn't use kbb, but they do. Kbb favors dealers by giving lower trade in and higher retail prices. That's why they'll use it instead of nada.

All the dealers in my area use nada. That Cherokee you have is ultimately worth whatever someone will pay for it, not what kbb says. So list it high and say o.b.o. ive sold and bought vehicles over and under the kbb or nada value.

Seems like with nada sometimes the dealer wins, sometimes you win.

I work at a car dealership as a salesman. All of your banks and lending institutions use NADA. Unfortuneatly we do not give more than NADA and we cannot sell the car for more than NADA. The banks will only finance at most 110% of the value of the vehicle. Plus, most banks aren't going to finance a 93 model truck, no matter what condition it is in. You will never get more than NADA TRADE IN value for it, because we cannot sell it for any more than Clean-Retail value. Even if the truck is as clean as you say it is, bro you'll have a better chance of selling it on your own than trading it in. And the only way it will ever be bought would be by someone getting a personal loan for the amount, or paying cash. No one will give an auto loan for that year truck. And it sucks! We have had some really nice older stuff traded in that I would love to buy, but you can't get anything 10 years or older financed. Car dealerships suck BTW!

Seems like they sell em for every penny they can, regardless of real value. My neighbor just bought a 98 Tj, stock , from a local dealer, 8999.00 . What a rip job. I sold my 99 Tj last year for only 6, with a lift and both tops!

X2

I've seen low miles xjs listed for about 5900-7500 here in Indianapolis. I don't know if they sold or not though.

Hey Trev clean out your PMs.
