We have all seen the posts and stickers on rigs "Built Not Bought".
But what do you consider Built Not Bought?
If someone buys an aftermarket bumped from Detours, and installs it himself/herself that bumper was bought, but the rig was built up by them.
If someone buys a lift, and installs it themselves, the lift was bought but the rig was built.
But where do you draw that line? If someone does not FABRICATE their own bumpers or lifts or whatever, do you still consider the rig bought, or do you consider it built because it is not stock?

Built to me means you buy the jeep stock and then build it up.
Bought is opposite, someone has built the jeep and you bought it already built. That's just IMHO

Personally, I would consider it bought if you bought aftermarket parts and you paid someone else put them on (even if paying with pizza and beer).

My old SRT-4 and my new XJ are hybrids of this idea. I'm no expert what I can do I will do but I have some friends that help me out when I start getting out of my realm of expertise. I wouldn't say my cars are bought. They've been tended to by me and my friends, there's dirt under my fingernails too lol
So if you took your stock rig to a pro and said "here's what I want, call me when it's done"? Is it built or bought? You didn't buy it already built up, but you also didn't do any of the work yourself.

It's built if I buy stuff and put it on, since my fab skills are limited to say the best.
It's bought if I pay somebody else to put it on, or bought it already done.

well seeing that around me 100% of the shops will not put a lift on, everyone that has a lifted truck out here has done it themselves or with a friends help.
