Default broken vent flap repair

so ive had a problem with my xj flaps being non operable ...main problem was no face vents. well its been getting pretty warm here and the foot vents just werent doing enough so i pull my kick panel and and peek in where the flaps are, low and behold the plastic arm that operated the flap is broken clear off....i manage to get the broken piece out and realize why....they are held on by very thin plastic. i tried plastic weld that didnt last long and i also tried JB with the same out come....so here was my solution. i noticed that the "arm" had a hole right through the middle of it...really not sure why but both the face and defrost vents had them i used a very tightly fit screw to drive through the middle of it into the flap arm after guiding it back into where it was seated aka where the non broken pieces lined up...it seems to work very well knock on wood, this is a nice fix if you dont want to pull your whole dash and replace a heater box....has anyone else done anything like this?
