well i dont know if it would be up to chrysler anymore, they dont own jeep, its fiat now, plus the cherokee wouldnt be the same anyways, the jks are gonna be based off a tweaked compact car frame from fiat now, jeep is ruined, the new grand cherokee is about all they got going for them

I'm not going to sign it...sorry!
Did you see what FORD did to the Explorer?
What do you think about the "new" volkswagon bettles??
I fear that if Fiat were to introduce a "new" Cherokee it would ruin name!

you know it's definitely not gonna have the 4.0 I6. even if they brought it back, it would have a crappy "updated" body design, independent suspension and a 3.7 or 3.8 V6. i think the importance of our XJs is in the fact that we're still driving and modifying vehicles made in 80's and 90's and they are dirt cheap and plenty to go around... just my cheap opinion... would i consider spending 20 grand or more on a new XJ to keep it purdy??? heck no...

oh yeah i never said i liked the grand cherokee haha, i think its ugly, but i think its the only thing that might save jeep, i dont see them going very far with any other vehicle, maybe the wrangler, but like i said, thats gonna be based off a compact car frame now.....haha

Its (Grand Cherokee) on a Mercedes frame. At most it has ~10 inches of ground clearance. Can never be back yard lifted. Horrible horrible horrible. The wrangler, grand Cherokee and a new (possibly the cherokee) vehicle will be the only Jeep vehicles by 2013 as per their 5 year plan. All others ( compass liberty patriot) will be fiats. Check out their business plan. Makes me sad.

If you really want to know what people think about our beloved XJ's, go to CarandDriver.com and do a search for Jeep Cherokee. There's an article from 2001 on there that pits the XJ against 10 other "SUV's". The stated purpose of the test was to find out which of the 11 vehicles did the best in the snows of northern Michigan. The Jeep, hands down, destroyed the others, and the writer even admits that. In the end, XJ finished in 10th, just ahead of a Kia. To say the least, C&D got a pretty biased letter from me that they never published. More than 10 years ago people quit wanting capability and started to want creature comforts. I hope the Cherokee doesn't come back. If they ever did bring it back, they'd ruin it.
